Dear Colleagues,

The deadline for abstract submissions for the 2015 International High Level Radioactive Waste (IHLRWM) Conference has been extended to September 15, 2014. This is the last extension and final call call for abstracts.

Please review the call for papers and consider submitting a contribution to this conference by visiting the ANS meeting website (http://www.ans.org/meetings/m_215). Also, you will want to check the website regularly to monitor the technical program as it evolves.

This conference is a leading international forum for the discussion of the scientific, technical, social and regulatory aspects of the "back end" of the nuclear fuel cycle.  These issues include: used fuel and high level waste (HLW) generation, transportation, storage, processing, disposal, and associated aspects (such as facility decontamination and decommissioning, site remediation, regulation and stakeholder involvement).  The conference is also intended to counter the popular perception that used fuel and HLW management is an intractable problem by highlighting solutions that are being implemented internationally.  This forward looking narrative requires active participation from industry, government, academia, policy-makers, and the interested public. Student participation is also strongly encouraged as the conference will feature a session on the historical context for the current state of international used fuel and HLW management.

Below is the current timeline for IHLRWM paper submissions and reviews.

Abstract Deadline:  September 15, 2014 (REVISED)
Notification to Authors:  September 30, 2014 (REVISED)
Full Draft Papers Due for Review:   November 7, 2014
Notification to Authors:   January 7, 2015
Final Paper for CD-ROM Publication:   February 7, 2015

We are looking forward to seeing you in beautiful Charleston, South Carolina, next April 1216, 2015.

Lake Barrett,
General Chair

Andrew Sowder and Ruth Weiner,
Technical Program Chairs
