Energy Ocean International Conference and Exhibition June 10-12

June 10-12, 2013 | Crowne Plaza | Providence/Warwick, RI
Dear MICHELE,
For 10 years Energy Ocean International has been recognized as the Conference and Exhibition that researchers, policy makers, engineers, utility companies, and technology developers attend to get the most up-to-date developments and breakthrough case studies within the Offshore Renewable industry.
This year, we’re excited to present three focused case studies that address everything from permit approval to new technologies and opportunities in wind, wave and tidal energy developments.
Case Study in Wind: Fisherman’s Energy Offshore Wind Farm
Fishermen’s Atlantic City Windfarm, LLC is an offshore wind-energy development company that is developing a nominal 25-megawatt (MW) offshore wind renewable energy facility to be located off of Atlantic City in southern New Jersey. This presentation will review the activities that were required in developing the permits, including mandatory field studies such as geotechnical, archeological/cultural resource, and ecological studies.
Speaker:
Charles Harman, Principal Scientist, AMEC Environment & Infrastructure
Case Studies in Wave
Wave energy has the potential to be one of the most environmentally benign forms of electricity generation. Its potential is especially ripe in Northern Europe, Western Canada and Northwest U.S. The following presenter are at the forefront of wave power generation.
Speaker:
Richard Yemm, Commercial Director, Pelamis Wave Power LTD
Case Studies in Tidal
Tides are more predictable than wind, wave and solar energy giving the power produced from tidal a valuable contributor to the green energy mix. However, tidal power is a very new technology with relatively higher costs and limited availability of sites. Recent technological developments and improvements, both in design and turbine technology have shown a downward trend of construction and operating costs giving confidence that it can reach competitive levels. These case studies aim to explore the opportunities and new technologies for tidal power.
Speakers:
Ken Street, Business Development Manager, Alstom Ocean Energy
Anne Van Houten, New Energy Market Developer, Bluewater Energy Services
Sue Barr, Environment and External Affairs Manager, Open Hydro
